COMECON

The Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (COMECON),  was an economic organisation of communist states and a kind of Eastern Bloc equivalent to the European Economic Community. It was founded in 1949 and disbanded in 1991.
Member states: since 1949:  Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Soviet Union - 1949: Albania - 1950: German Dem. Rep. - 1962: Mongolia - 1972: Cuba - 1978: Vietnam.
