Jan Zamoyski (1542–1605) was a nobleman, magnate, and the 1st ordynat of Zamość. He was an important advisor to the Kings Sigismund II Augustus and Stephen Báthory, His most prized creation was the city of Zamość, founded in 1580, built and designed in Renaissance style, now on the UNESCO heritage list.
Aleksander Orłowski (1777 – 1832) was a painter and sketch artist, and a pioneer of lithography in the Russian Empire. His works include countless sketches of everyday life in Poland and Russia, and scenes from the Kościuszko Uprising and other Polish historic fights.
