DescriptionPope John Paul II mediated in a conflict between Chile and Argentina concerning the border between the two countries. The Treaty of Peace and Friendship between Chile and Argentina was signed into agreement at the Vatican on 29 November 1984. On May 2, 1985 the treaty entered into force.
